Well I have just spent 6 hours in front of the screen writing about Emerging Tech… specifically about merging Machine Learning with Blockchain. This is my life! I get up when the sun gets up, have a coffee watching the waves come over the reef in front of our place. Getting my head clear and ready for another intense day of researching and writing.
The thing about emerging tech is that it is just that… emerging… the research content is limited and sometimes pretty academic. Sometimes you have to make a call when you read a few articles… sit back and say to yourself… REALLY?
I think I must be Amazon’s best customer… buying book after book and voraciously reading sometimes 2 or 3 books in a week. Every now and then you read one that resonates and you can see exactly how this could or can work. But trust me… for every 5 books that I read, 4 are usually rubbish, or simply someone sitting on the fence about the technology.
Thank heavens I was on the dot.com train and spent over a decade actually working in Emerging Tech. nothing like a reality check in this space.
In emerging tech do you need to be a futurist? … absolutely. Mostly content is future looking, and as a writer it is my duty to get my readers to see what I see. …hmmm challenging? … yes sometimes.
If it looks like a fish, and smells like a fish… then it probably is. Trust your intuition and read as much as you can. The odd YouTube vid is pretty handy also… me, I love the Ted Talks.
The thing is… the future is what we make it… and I am just doing my bit… so this is what it is like to be a writer…
